The Pajama Stories

The Premise

I developed this concept for the parent who, for the lack of time, want to spend some quality time with their children. I think fathers but moms too. One of the ways that I have achieved it is through interactive bedtime stories that I have called PAJAMA STORIES. I hated reading books to my kids because they were too long and written to be listened to. My kids wanted to be part of the story, so I started to make them up as some parents do. The stories had to have some meaning to keep them interested, so I searched around their rooms for ideas. Vivid descriptions and guessing made them hungry for more and put their minds to rest with happy and creative thoughts. Although small in size, they are large in content. As many as I have told, I have only remembered and written a few. PLEASE read the tips to make these PAJAMA STORIES come alive for your children. This small amount of time spent with them might be memories of a lifetime.

Have them in their pajamas before you start any story.

Get snacks and drinks finished, and bathroom breaks out of the way.

Look around the room for things to add or change the story.

Don’t let them talk you into reading more stories. One per night or two once you've gone thru them.

(if they like the story, they will be ready for the next one tomorrow)

TIP 1       Read the story to yourself first so you understand it. It will help you to be ready for certain actions, sounds, gestures, etc…

TIP 2      Read the stories slowly. They are not very long and your child needs to listen for what is being said.

TIP 3      Read the story the way that you would tell it. I wrote them the way that I speak, but tell them in the way that you speak.

TIP 4     Don’t be afraid to make sounds or do silly things. I make funny faces, big eyes, act out the characters and talk from whispers to shouts. The sillier the better, outrageous is the best. Make it fun!

TIP 5      Make them think. Give hints and clues, but don’t give them the answer until after a few bad guesses. The stories are really about them and they have most of the answers anyway.

TIP 6      Hug them, kiss them, and tell them you love them. They grow up fast and every moment is precious.

They really don’t want to hear my stories. They want YOU telling it to them!
