                                                                                        The Apple Race Horse

Once upon a time there was a pony whose dad was a famous race horse. The owners thought that the pony was going to be real fast too, but when they tried to get the pony to run it only got confused. They would kick and slap the pony but it only got more confused. After trying more and more the owners thought it wouldn't be a good race horse. They left the pony in the pasture til they could find someone to buy the pony. There the pony met another pony. They became friends and would play "Run to the apple tree".

They learned to run fast because they didn't  want

to be last to the tree and they loved apples and

they were having fun!

When they got to be young horses, their owners

put them in a truck and took them where people

were looking at them and talking to their owners.

The pony was led to another truck and drove away.

He was greeted at another farm where a boy gave him some oats

and a big red apple! The boy said, "You're my horse now and we're going to be friends".

Every morning the boy called the horse and the horse ran to the boy because he would have an apple for him. The boy would get on the horse and ride him around the farm.

The boy's father noticed how the horse ran and took him to where the other boys raced their horses. He won every race! The boy would reward him with an apple. Soon he was racing with faster and faster horses and winning too!

He was taken where the fastest horses raced. The boy had biggest reddest apple ever. He was taken where the horse lined up and noticed his horse friend next to him!! "Heyyyyy" he said. "Last one to the apple tree is a lame horse!".

The gates opened and all the horses ran. The two horses ran the entire way next to each other and the friend horse was in the lead. The horse saw the boy and big red apple at the end of the field and ran as hard as he could across the finish line! He won the race by the tip of his nose.

The horse didn't care that he won. He just wanted that big red apple. He looked around and saw his horse friend was eating a big red apple too!

                                                                                                                      The End

I made this story up because I would cut up and feed my kids an apple before telling them a story. Apples are delicious and sweet and good fiber. An apple a day just might keep the nightmares away!
