THE  ROBOT

 

      Once upon a time, there was a boy who was ready to open his Christmas presents.

He opened his first present and it was a… (Child guess)  He also got a …(Guess) and a … 

and a….  Well he finished opening all his presents except one. It was a special present

that his dad had bought.  It was a robot.

   This robot was the coolest looking robot around and it had flashing lights and

blinking eyes. (blink your eyes) But there was something wrong with the robot.

It didn’t do anything. It didn’t move or talk or play music.

   It bothered the boy a little bit but he still liked the robot. He would play with his games and the robot would stand there and watch him. He would put his toys in the robot's hand and pretend that the robot was playing with him. He would talk to the robot as if it was his best friend.

   One day his father had left out some tools and the boy had an idea.  He took the motor out of his toy racecar and put it in the robot. Then he took the parts out of his crane and hooked it up to the robot’s arms. Then he stuck his math tutor on the back of the robot and ran the wires into the robot. He double checked the power in the batteries and placed them in the robot. He picked up the remote control, closed his eyes and slowly turned it on. He opened his eyes to see what the robot was doing.

   Nothing happened. The robot just blinked his eyes and his lights were still flashing. The boy was real sad and he started to cry.  “I just wish that this robot could play with me. Just one day.” He put his hands over his eyes and cried and cried. “Just one day, just one day I wish he could play with me”

   Then he felt a handkerchief touch his arm. He thought that it was his mom, but when he looked up, he saw that it was the robot. The robot was smiling down at him and moving. He couldn’t believe it.

   Well he began to play games with the robot. They played games like…(child guess) and they played… (Guess) and they even played… (Guess)

    Then he asked the robot what game he wanted to play and the robot said, “Robot tag”.

   They went out to the yard and played robot tag (move like a robot) and they had a super time until it started to get dark outside.

   “We better get back in the house robot,” said the boy. But as he said that, it started to rain and rain fast. The boy made it to the house just in time but the robot was stuck in the pouring rain and moved slower and slower until he finally stopped.

   A tear fell from the boy’s eye just like the raindrops outside, but the boy managed to smile because he got the wish that he asked for and had the best time with his robot.

   Oh he still has that robot. His lights still flash but only one eye still blinks (wink at your child).
